* The Edmonton area has historically been considered a Zone 3 as far as hardiness goes. The Canadian government has recently changed that Zone rating to a Zone 4. Take that with a grain of salt as many key people in the horticulture industry still maintain that we are more like a Zone 3 for plant hardiness. We recommend staying with primarily Zone 3 plant material or hardier, but experimenting with the occasional Zone 4 plant to have a little fun with your gardening and being able to have plants in your yard that no one else does!
